We are an education-based NON-PROFIT group that is dedicated to pushing for
quantum leaps in automotive technology, replacing the automotive stagnation of the last forty years. This will begin with a new generation of dedicated young car builders who are mentored by the last of their kind left standing. The advent of new digital design, communication and manufacturing technologies offer the possibilities of exponential growth in our transportation technology, much as it happened at the turn of the 20th Century.
This website will soon begin hosting a number of publications and special videos. Around mid-2012 we will also become a contact hub for those wanting to communicate their visions and capabilities. Author Tim Barton will also in 2012 begin speaking at public events and in the media.
The knowledge found in the seven books and the DVD set sold on this website is a starting point for delving into the subject of the new automotive age. A great deal of lost and suppressed information has been uncovered in these books, and the re-discoveries of old techniques blend beautifully with the newer digital technologies.
The growth of digital technologies will again put the individual firmly back in charge of their intellectual property, much as the innovators were a century ago. Digital manufacturing is already diminishing the need for the old mass assembly line approach to manufacturing.
AUTOFUTURIST.ORG will begin networking with companies in the USA and others around the world who offer goods, services and open machine time. Future car builders will be allowed to design and test full vehicles on a digital desktop, and then export that data to job shops around the world. Future vehicle components will be ordered and received in days from all points around the globe. The age of needing all car-building machines along with a massive workforce under one factory roof will soon go through changes.
But no new vehicles will be developed unless America's regulatory climate goes through a radical SEA CHANGE in
market access for low-volume vehicle production. Current federal and state agency regulations only address massive corporate entities. As our pace of innovation increases, advanced future transport will require set-aside categories for the production and sale of low volume experimental vehicles. Explosive technology never thrives within a model of top-down management.
The automobile started as experiments by competing individuals, friendly rivals in most cases, who met, raced, shared ideas, solved problems, and built our new industrial age at an unimaginable pace. In those days, innovation was the main driving force, and
ALL INNOVATIONS came from individuals. This same scenario was recreated with the PC "hacker" movement in the early days of the development of what became the home computer. Mr. Gates, Wozniak and Jobs were all friendly innovators with big ideas who met regularly in an empty movie theater to discuss what was discovered. Today, implementation of advances in the new digital vehicle technologies will once again empower the individual.
Quantum leaps in technology requires an outlet for low-volume vehicle production. The advances in digital manufacturing will accelerate the elimination of the mega-factories. The larger entities will eventually be unable to compete efficiently against small groups headed by innovative individuals. There is no holding back this trend.
America was built on competing ideas within the free enterprise system. Empowering the gifted individuals among us will again lead to explosive growth thanks to our limitless new technologies. WE ARE ENTRERING A NEW AGE!
